Mountain gorillas

I chose the Mountain Gorillas because they are very interesting and clever  . Mountain Gorillas are large species of ape (a bit like a large monkey). They live in an African rainforest on some volcanic slopes. They are very endangered due to civil war, poaching and habitat destruction. They live in groups or troops of up to thirty led by an alpha male or silver back. Despite being shy they are very strong and would die to protect the troop.

They live on the forest floor and eat plants, ants and termites.

Mountain gorillas live in big groups they are large and strong which is good if you want to survive in the rainforest. Mountain gorillas mainly eat plants. They use their flat strong teeth to grind the tough parts. They can use their strength to tear apart a whole banana tree.

Mountain gorillas have long thick fur which is adapted to there cooler climate. A silver back makes decisions for the group like when they get up and eat.

They are critically endangered there are 700 left. One gorilla can make £2.5 million in its lifetime from tourism.
